Beginner’s Guide to Power Monkey Fitness Camp: What to Expect

Jun 19, 2025

If you’re considering attending Power Monkey Fitness Camp and you’re new to the scene, whether that’s gymnastics, weightlifting, or just camps in general—this guide will walk you through exactly what to expect during the week.

Location & Accommodations

Power Monkey Camp takes place at a private training facility in Crossville, Tennessee.
You’ll stay in shared cabins on-site (think college dorms or summer camp vibes), with easy access to the main training areas, dining hall, and trails. Everything is walkable, and the peaceful, outdoorsy setting makes it easy to unplug and focus.

Plus, all meals and lodging are included in your registration.

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Each day is structured around learning, movement, and community. Here's how a standard day might flow:

  • 6:30 AM – Morning movement or sleep in! Think light mobility/yoga, ruck, paddleboarding activities.

  • 7:00 AM – Breakfast. Meals are provided buffet-style in the cafeteria.

  • 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM – Small Group Skill Sessions. These rotate daily and cover gymnastics, Olympic lifting, mobility, kettlebells, rowing, and more.

  • 12:30 PM – Lunch and Free Time

  • 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM – More Small Group Skill Sessions These rotate daily and cover gymnastics, Olympic lifting, mobility, kettlebells, rowing, and more.

  • 5:30 PM – Dinner

  • 7:00 PM – Evening Activity (Optional) These vary nightly:, lectures, campfire hangout, Q&As with coaches, or downtime.

What You’ll Learn At Power Monkey Fitness Camp

  • Gymnastics - Handstands, pull-ups, muscle-ups, toes to bar, hollow body progressions

  • Weightlifting - Squat mobility, snatch and clean & jerk broken down into accessible steps

  • Endurance - Stations geared towards running, jump rope, kettlebell and rowing.

  • Mobility & Durability - Prehab, recovery techniques, and better movement habits

  • Nutrition & Coaching - For those interested in training others or leveling up their own approach

  • Mindset & Long-Term Progress – How to train smarter, not just harder

You’ll leave with drills, cues, and progressions you can immediately apply at home or in your gym.

Who Comes to Camp?

Camp is open to all levels. You do not need to be a competitive athlete or experienced coach. We've had campers who never hung off of a bar, picked up a barbell or swung a kettlebell before. That's the beauty of Power Monkey Fitness Camp - all of our coaches will meet you were you're at. What a cool thing to be able to say "I learned how to row from an Olympic Gold Medalist", or "I was taught how to squat from a 2-Time Olympian"?

Our campers include:

  • Beginners looking to build foundational skills

  • People who participate in CrossFit, Hyrox, F45, OTF and more wanting to improve technique

  • Coaches, gym owners, and personal trainers

  • People returning to movement after injury

  • Athletes of all ages (typically 20s–50s, but we’ve had campers in their 80s!)

"It’s a special feeling to look around and realize you’re surrounded by people from all different walks of life - Olympians and CrossFit Champions and people who just started working out six months ago, 25 year olds and 75 year olds, conservatives and liberals, etc etc - who all share one goal: how can I be a little bit better today than I was yesterday?" - Kate M.

What to Pack

  • Workout gear

  • Layers (mornings/evenings can be cool)

  • Swimwear (for paddleboarding/lake activities)

  • Water/Shaker bottles

  • Bedding/towels (provided at an additional cost) unless you book a private cabin (limited availability).

**a full packing list will be provided before Camp!
